After 18 years of marriage, actors Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are calling it quits, according to documents obtained by ETonline.

The 56-year-old actress filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." She is asking for child support and sole physical and joint legal custody of their 17-year-old daughter Stella, who turns 18 in September.

The estranged couple gave a joint statement to ET, saying, "We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together."

This will be Griffith's fourth divorce and Banderas' second. The Milk Money actress was married to Miami Vice star Don Johnson twice (1976; 1989–1996) and to Steve Bauer (1982-1987). Griffith has two children from her previous marriages. She and Johnson are parents to 24-year-old Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson, and Bauer and the starlet have a son named Alexander Bauer.

As for the Puss in Boots actor, 53, he was married to actress Ana Leza from 1987-1996.

Griffith and Banderas wed in a private London ceremony in May 1996, not long after the actor's split from his first wife.

Wow, I didnt think they'd ever call it quits, 18yrs is a helluva long time for a celebrity wedding...
As an aside, Mel looks like shes had a bit of "work" done in that pic!

he lost a lot of weight too, worry why......

yeah WAY too much work
disgustingly FUGLY!!!!

i must wonder whats it like for the kids spoiled they would be but the media exposure its a kind of hell.......

One friend posted this news on FB and how sad she was. I don't feel sad for them because I don't know them personally.

you can be asserted she wont be in films anymore.....too gross

In all fairness, I can think of three actors off the top of my head that have had plastic surgery with not so great results: Sly Stallone, Mickey Rourke, Burt Reynolds. Actresses tend to be unfairly targeted for criticism because it's more acceptable to attack women for having work done. Banderas cheated on his first wife with Melanie and there were rumors of him cheating on her as well. In all likelihood, the marriage probably lasted as long as it did because she tolerated it out of, perhaps embarrassment, and for the sake of their daughter.

Do agree....and from what I've read about this couple, Melanie was very jealous of Antonio....And all that aside....I think they were and are great actors/actresses....Don't feel Melanie's career is all washed up, neither is Antonio's....

I think Meg Ryan looks totally different. I saw Courtney Cox on tv the other day and she has definitely had work done. Her lips looked painful. She kept sticking her tongue out like she was having a hard time smiling

I don't think there's anything wrong with plastic surgery or wanting to look better. The problem is Hollywood doesn't know when to stop. Instead of looking better, they want to look 21, and they end up looking a little scary....

Betty White had plastic surgery and my opinion, if it makes you feel better about yourself, there's no shame in it. It's only a problem when you do it for others instead of for yourself.
