I have medi-cal. Recently, my hearing aids (both of them) stopped working. One of them now whistles even when it's on, and the other simply refuses to turn on, even with brand new batteries.

Granted, those hearing aids were more than 5 years old (I know, I know :aw:) and buying new hearing aids is not a option given the prices and my current financial situation -- I barely survive paycheck to paycheck, let alone cough up couple hundreds to thousands for a new set of hearing aids.

I've been using my older hearing aid from when I was a kid (the analog ones) -- those are from about 10+ years old, and I'm pretty sure that hearing aid will eventually fail too.

So... what options do I have? Will medi-cal buy me a set of new hearing aids? I decided to ask you guys here instead of asking them to see what I can do.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

can you contact Medi-cal and find out what their criteria is for hearing aid coverage? With Wyoming Medicaid, they will purchase new hearing aids if the old ones are 5+ years old and no longer under warranty. Or if you have an audiologist, ask them if they are a medi-cal provider and what medi-cal's policies are regarding hearing aid coverage.
