Developer says players on less capable rigs will have "much better experience" with new game compared to past entry.

The Sims fans running lower-end PCs are in luck, as Maxis has confirmed that The Sims 4 will run better on less-capable rigs than The Sims 3.

"We're really excited to say that players on lower-end machines are going to have a much better experience on The Sims 4 than they did with The Sims 3," producer Ryan Vaughn told Digital Spy at Gamescom.

Vaughn explained that Maxis understands that not all its players are running high-end machines and said the developer is optimizing the game to ensure players on all rigs are satisfied.

"Right now we're doing a lot of work to optimize the game's performance, cut down on loading screens, and make sure everything still looks as beautiful, the Sims feel as vibrant, and that your gameplay is just as much fun regardless of what spec you're playing on," he said.

Electronic Arts showed off gameplay for The Sims 4 this week at Gamescom. The game introduces emotional states, among other features, that aim to bolster the authenticity of the experience.

The Sims 4 launches for the PC and Mac in 2014. An Internet connection will not be required, as was the case for Maxis' controversial SimCity.

I am not interested in Sims series. I prefer SimCity! My favorite is Simcity 4 but they don't support latest version of Mac OS X and it's based on crappy coding. It doesn't run that well with too many stuff going on the game. It's really no big deal, anyhow.

You can try Sim City 2013 but warning - new Sim City is graphic intensive game.

It means high end iMac or Mac Pro can run it with awesome graphic.

I have a high end machine. I can play any game on max settings. I try to play Sims 3 and it just gets worse and worse until it crashes. So here's hoping Sims 4 will be an improvement.

After numerous patches, it run much better than Sim City 4 and very smooth on my PC.

Maxis developed a Mac version of Sim City 2013 and they could doing better than Aspyr. I found that license for Mac version of Sim City 4 expired and Aspyr no longer to support anymore - same goes with Mac version of The Sims 2.

Yeah. I use NRass to correct the problems in TS3. I also prefer to have small and tiny worlds for some technical reasons.

At the least, I am so happy that TS4 improved CAS, and I'm still doubt about gameplay. I hope it gets better...

Mine barely meets the minimum requirements, so best to get a i5 or i7 based Mac with faster video card like the iMac.
