Massachusetts teen convicted of homicide in texting-while-driving case

I start stopped use text while driving when I got iPhone 4 in 2010.

Wonderful. So sorry someone had to die before society realized text-driving has to stop. Thanks Foxrac.

I see people texting while driving all the time . I live in Mass. and I wonder how many people will get killed before people realize how dangerous it is to text and drive at the same time! I see adults doing as well as teens.

I was at first sad that he was charged with murder and thought that manslaughter would be a more appropriate charge. But when I heard that he was sentenced to 2.5 years and 15 with no license I was okay with the outcome. He will still have to live with this forever and so will the victims. Now my question is why aren't we this strict with DUI or DWI offenders?!

Yup, no problem.

I notice that your behavior is much improving.

Yup, same here in Alabama and I got some close call because stupid drivers are texting on road, also using handheld is dangerous too.

Our state legislative failed to ban on handheld but they did ban on texting recently.

He was not charged with murder. He was charged with vehicular homicide.

because they didn't kill/injure anybody but if they did, it would be worse than this boy. it could be life sentence.

I won't even take the step to go to links/sources because it is unnecessary. AD members have ben around long enough to know that almost daily, in America, a person is killed by a DWI/DUI driver. I guess the best way to make MADD mad is to make a post such as this. Right here in Houston there is a trial going on where the deferment has plead "guilty" of DWI. The reason for a trial after a plea is because no sentencing could be agreed on, a jury will decide. The problem? The person killed body was torn into three pieces, just a terrible situation.

To the decreased there is no debate which is worst because dead is dead. To me DWI/DUI is worst than text because with text you are mental impaired and with DWI/DUI you are both mental and physically impaired. However, all three are brought on yourself because you are STUPID.

Texting while driving is soooooo dangerous! I wish people would put their cell phones in the glove box while driving. My 15-year-old grandson is driving now, and I'm scared to death that something will happen to him. He knows better not to text, so I hope he doesn't. :Ohno:

Reba, I agree not just the texting. People need to put the cell phone down, period. Focus on the road.

Yes, the voice calls are equally dangerous to concentration.

I live in Massachusetts too. Hearing people should be banned to using voice cell phone too. They need to fucking pay attention to the roads.
