Hello all,
I have been a member of the AllDeaf community for a while now, lurking as the title suggests. I have been self-studying through Lifeprint.com with Bill Vicars. There are quite a few reasons why I am learning ASL, the biggest reason being that I love the language. I like it more than the English I have been raised with. Both my parents are HoH (one through Pox and the other from loud machinery, etc.). I am a hearie.
I really like how AllDeaf is all around: generally kind people, informative, educational, and often friendly with newbies. I have, and will always, enjoy learning through this community.
As of late I am keeping an eye out for Deaf events in my locality because I do not want my ASL skills to become rusty, but I want to make friends and learn as much as I can. There are so many dialects or "accents" to be recognized.
Anyway, I just wanted to give a small introduction and thank the site for letting hearing people similar to me join and learn more about the culture.
