Hi.
I live in Sydney, Australia and have obtained my Esprit 3G through the Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre. It's been so incredibly beneficial to my life - except as of yesterday when I... misplaced it. On the Thursday night, I had (much) more to drink at the pub on an empty stomach than I would have liked - celebrating no work on the Friday! I have an incredibly vague memory of walking home that night. Suffice to say, that I woke up the next afternoon and couldn't find my speech processor. I can only conclude that I lost it some time after leaving the pub and before getting home. I've gone everywhere I can think of, retracing my steps and asking around with no luck. I'm effectively completely deaf again, until I somehow obtain a new one.
Just how much would it set me back in purchasing a replacement? The speech processor itself wasn't insured but I'm covered fully on Medicare, however. I'm not exactly loaded with money right now, already having plenty of necessary expenses I need to spend my hard earned cash on. Any suggestions at all would be welcome.
In your reply, you have my permission to laugh at my misfortune and stupidity - but please provide a little help also!
Incidentally, how often does this happen to people anyway? This is the first (and only) time it's ever happened to me.
