Someone posted on a free forum that she was looking for a fan. I asked if the person was looking to spend money or if she wanted a free fan.

The administer wasn't happy with me. I wasn't selling a fan. I was simply asking if she wanted to spend on a fan or just looking for a free fan.

That forum is a "free" forum which means that people can give away stuffs. People cannot sell things there. I was just asking if she was willing to spend on a fan as she put up an ISO post on a free forum.

Can you kindly let me know if I was wrong to ask whether she was willing to spend on a fan? Many thanks.

I guess it really would not matter what we think b/c the administer would still be upset with you. Did you explain what you meant ?

I was simply asking if she was looking to spend on a fan. She said yes. I didn't sell her a fan. I was simply asking a question.

Some people just like to jump to conclusion.

Well, Derek, there are some forums that have much stricter rules than here. I'm not aware of all of them, of course, but I have heard of a few here and there.

I guess you'll have to use this as a learning experiment and will know better the next time. Like CB2 said they're strict in their rules . You did not get ban so try not to let it get to you too much.

WDYS is correct. It's a good idea to try and be as careful, because some rules are very enforceable. Like that free forum-- can't sell stuff there. Asking to sell stuff would be pushing it.

Can you imagine how many other people ask if others are willing to pay in the free forum? It happens everyday and people get annoyed by it. There's a free forum so everyone can trade and feel good about it.

kinda sounded like you were trying to sell, id go back and say quit being cheap and go buy one...lol

That might be against the rules too . I agree that is being pretty cheap , a fan only cost about $40 but it might be hard to find them in some cities .

Who cares if someone is being cheap. I've been ultra cheap all my life. There's nothing wrong with it.

What if a item has to send by mail or UPS , who has to pay for that ?

WDYS... there are two ways that works. The first one is the sender pays for shipping, and that'd be the end of it.

The second one is a sticky one. It's called C.O.D, or collect on delivery. This method is not the best one, at least for some people, because the person receiving said package would pay for the shipping and maybe other fees, although I'm not sure how that works (Maybe Calvin or CrazyPaul can explain more, since I never use this particular method).

I know a ,lot of places do not to use C OD anymore . I was going have dog food delivered and wanted to pay COD and the store wanted me to use credit card over the phone. The first time I did that , I got a letter saying I did not pay my bill. So I will no longer use a credit card over the phone.

I've been hearing that a lot of places are discontinuing COD, so I'm not too surprised on that one. Speaking of which, I need to start thinking ahead of time for certain things.
