Would you like to live above a bar? Why or why not?

I would probably pass on that proposal. There are so many bars to try out that I won't mind driving out and trying them out.

why above, if below keep glass in hand it fill up quick and free

I've never lived above a bar, and have no desire to do so. When I was a teen, I used to babysit for a family that had an apartment above a bar. It was noisy.

But that's one advantage the deaf have.

If I ever move to an apartment, I won't care if my upstairs or downstairs neighbors are noisy, at least at night, because I won't be able to hear them.

Though I imagine a bar would also vibrate the apartment upstairs because of the loudness.

Sometimes it's huge. When I was a kid there was a fairly sizable group of deaf people buying homes in a neighborhood close to the airport.

Nice homes, but cheaper.

I also know quite a few deaf people in my neighborhood here, which is a commercial neighborhood with lots of traffic.

When my husband was in college he lived in different apartments and one of them was right in the little "downtown" area of the small town where we both happened to attend for school. It was a second-floor apartment in a building next to a very popular bar where many students went. Town of about 26-thousand people.

He didn't have HA's then <finances>. He liked living there. But weekends were kinda crazy....

I would think it make too much noise and lots of fights breaking out

I would love to live above the bar for one simple reason...
When the obnoxious ones come stumbling out the door I can just quickly lean out my window and drop random funny things on their heads... like maybe a sheet cake, or water balloons... now that's what I call cheap entertainment.

Am I too mean?

I lived above a bar for a while. It was like an episode of cops every night. Sometimes I would eat my dinner and watch out the window onto the street to see the arrests and fights. One time a guy got thrown through the bar window like in the movies!

As a young teenage girl, I felt uncomfortable walking past the guys loitering outside the bar when I came and went from the apartment.

I don't think I would feel safe. I would probably have to check behind my back when I enter my building to make sure no one is following me.

No I wouldn't do that, I'd get dragged into doing something crazy! When I was in college, I along with a friend and another roomate who rented a studio apartment not far from the strip would get people showing up in the middle of the night for god-knows-what. Of course it turned out to be an attempt to get some favors or whatever in their cars, you know? Way too distracting so I moved to the dorms.

Where I live, theres a house that is directly across from the bar. A guy that used to live there would go the bar then walk across the street to his house, sometimes bringing friends along to party until the wee hours of the morning.

I wouldn't mind living there.

Even though I wouldn't be bothered by the noise due to my hearing I would still not want to live above a bar. The main reason is that bars tend to attract alcoholics and undesirables and I wouldn't want to be hassled by them as I walk to/from home.
