My son is going to have surgery again tomorrow morning, we have to leave at 4:30am, be at the hospital, checked in by 6am, surgery will start at 7am.
he fell earlier this year and broke off his 2 front teeth at the gum line so they were surgically removed as an emergency procedure, the 2 teeth next to the front 2 were chipped pretty bad and the dentist tried to save them, but now they are not so sure since the enamel was broke off to the raw soft inner tooth and decaying so they want to pull them as well to prevent damage to the permanent teeth which should come in in about 2 years. Sad that he has to go through this but it has to be done.
he climbs on everything and one night in his pajamas with feet in them (slippery) he climbed on a metal desk and his feet slipped from under him on the bar and hit his mouth on the edge of the desk breaking his teeth, God was that scarey, first time I had to put in use of my First aide training. I will post how everything went, possibly some pictures. His first surgery went great earlier this year so this one should be just as smooth. Hate to see my little guy in pain.

Ouch!...just know that hurt very much....happened to 2 of my boys, but not to this extreme!....Hope it all turns out good for him....

I hope your son pulls out fine. It's a scary to think about it. It gives me the chills. I wish you and your son well.

These were his first 2, the roots are long, teeth broke at the gums. And you think baby teeth are little? The yellowish stuff is the exposed roots from the break.

Ever wonder where all your teeth come from? When the baby teeth fall out the roots dissolve to nothing as the permanents push out, then the empty space fills in with bone matter later in life...

Ouch! Rest assurance, I have been though three major surgery, going under knife is nothing to me. First experience going under knife was 30 years ago, and third time recently (3 weeks ago), the technology had advanced so much which result better results along with speedy recovery. He will be fine before you even know it. My grandfather and I have same surgery, and my recovery is much faster than his and his surgery was 25 years ago.

My son needs oral surgery too, I hate seeing him going though pain too, however with today technology he would be better off having surgery for speedy recovery than not at all that may cause him suffer lifelong pain.

ouch, teeth give me the yikes...my grandson with me he age two and broken his tooth but not at gum line, his tooth gone black but dentist not worried....
my daughter may need surgery soon and i feel same as you i keep swinging between yes and no

Ouch! Oral surgery is no fun. :(

My younger grandson had a similar accident when he was little. He broke off his two upper front baby teeth while playing on the monkey bars at school. He had to live with no front teeth and a lisp for about two years until his permanent teeth grew in. His teeth are fine now.

I hope your son has a quick and smooth recovery.

You guys are making me glad I had girls. :giggle:
My oldest daughter did hit her mouth on the "monkey bars" at daycare once. As I recall, another kid pushed her. I think I took her to the dentist but there was no lasting damage.

the two year olds do jarr the nerves when worrying...teeth and finger nails ouch and shiver

Girls aren't immune. I lost my two front teeth at age two when a chair I was standing on tipped over. My result was two blinding white spots on my permanent front teeth that were injured while still in the gums.

My younger daughter broke a permanent tooth playing tag and now has a porcelain crown...

I know girls are immune. Just glad my girls never needed to go to the ER (well, my then 17 year old did have to go when she was hit in the head with a waterlogged ball over the 4th of July weekend which ruptured her eardrum).

"The Terrible Two's"....have to watch them like a "Hawk"...child-proof ur home...so much more!....They can even outrun and out maneuver the most physically fit adult...:giggle:..and the word "NO!"...to them actually means..."why not?"

I know my daughter had her four front upper teeth removed when she was 2-3 but not due to injury. She also had crowns put on 4 back teeth at the same time. She's fine now with no major problems except that she should have had braces and we didn't do that.

Sigh, your indeed right! especially the last quote! I can't wait til my last baby done with terrible 2! Yeah, he is now 3 years old but still acts terrible 2 at times. Usually terrible two lasts until 4 or 5 yrs old.

Both of my son managed to get out of our house and gone over the park when they were 2 years old! Yeah second one, had cop coming over. I decided to build heavy duty gate to prevent it from happening again. First son, used garage door were able to manage to open it and dart to the park. At that time, my wife was asleep, and I was working on the roof and saw my son over the park and I was like WTF?

Apparently my late husband was notorious for wandering from home back in the early 50's. And they lived on a, presumably, busy city street. I've heard that he was brought home more than once by the cops.

Yeah, I myself did the same thing :giggle: I'm surprised that I survived.
