I have a question about breastfeeding, since I wasn't sure... Do you know what websites or any food/drink that can't during breastfeeding? Since, I know a few... Soda with cafferine, Honey(that is making by people, not store), and a few that cannot drink or eat during breastfeeding that could hurt baby. Do you know any that cannot drink or eat during breastfeeding? So can bring the website up in here, I had been trying to find one so I can know what to not eat or drink during breastfeeding, so thanks. :D

Hi there -

There are tons of resources on google. You can type out "Breastfeeding Food Problems" or "Breastfeeding Diets".

There's one I found which makes the sense at the most for breastfeeding and what types of foods to avoid.

Breastfeeding Food Problems

Really, There is no exact food that makes it same for every mother and baby. You would need to know the sensitivity of your baby whenever she is being breastfed. For instance, If you ate something spicy, does she have a bad gas reaction? If so, you know you would need to change your eating habits.

It's all about trying to "experiment" around and see what fits for you and your baby. If your baby reacts differently, then you know you are recognizing it to change for the better.

Good Luck! :)

Hi, it´s me... :D

Interesting to read the link, Jolie provided here. Yes, it´s true about spicy food... I experienced it before... It caused my son upset stomach... also 100% pure apple or orange juice, Sauerkraut as well. I have no problem to eat and drink anything... I don´t drink soda during pregnancy and breastfeeding because I am not crazy about sodas but my personally view to not drink soda with caffeine during breastfeeding. It could affect baby´s health...

Remember each baby is different... you can aviod to eat anything when you notice something wrong with baby... like bad gas reaction, stomach upset, colic, allergic, etc.

i agree with jolie's posts

mostly new moms always drink lots waters than pop soda but can juice or water both to lose weight or calories more easy than poison drinks.

i think mothers always still breastfed till one years and still using bottle because of mother's breast have problems.

Oh yes, I forget to add one more... Drink fennel tea is the best recommendation. (Of course you can drink any herbal tea except sage tea but fennel is the best) and also plenty of water as well.

fennel is very good for baby. Fennel tea for baby is common in Germany, also for nursing mothers as well. It helps to calm baby colic or upset stomach down and feel good/comfortable...

Fennel tea as a natural healer

Fennel Tea has many natural healing attributes. This article gives several different mixtures and how they can be used to promote the body's natural healing ability.

Fennel tea is used to promote a healthy appetite and good digestion. Fennel tea is so gentle it can be used for infants and children. To prepare fennel tea, take one-cup boiling water and pour over one to two teaspoons crushed fennel seeds. Let stand for ten minutes and then drain. Drink this mixture three times per day, to relieve abdominal cramps, upset stomach, colic or bloating. You can add other herbs such as caraway seeds and anise seeds to this mixture.

Fennel tea is also used to help alleviate symptoms of whooping cough, asthma, bronchitis and other upper- respiratory infections. To prepare fennel tea to aid in alleviating these symptoms, you will need one-ounce fennel seeds, one-ounce anise seeds, and two-third ounce marsh-mallow root and two-third ounce thyme. Take all the herbs and mix together. Then use one teaspoon of herb mixture per one cup of boiling water. Let mixture stand in water for ten minutes and then strain to remove undiluted herbs. Drink this mixture three times per day.

This mixture of milk also helps relieve stomach cramps and abdominal pain, mix one cup warm milk with one tablespoon crushed fennel seeds, let stand for two to three minutes, strain and slowly drink warm milk.

If breastfeeding, an old folk remedy to relieve sore nipples or relieve an infection, is to soak a cloth in warm tea and apply to the infected area of the skin. Apply this compress up to three times per day.

Fennel tea is also good for eye inflammations, to prepare this mixture take one-half cup water and add two teaspoons crushed fennel seeds and bring mixture to a boil. Let cool for ten minutes, then soak a cotton cloth in mixture and place on eye for fifteen to twenty minutes. It is best to do this is a dim lighted room.

Drink unsweetened fennel tea is popular for breastfeeding mothers in Germany. It helps to increase mother milk as well. If you decide to not want breastfeed your baby anymore then take sage tea then mother milk will gone within 3 days. In clinic, a lot of unsweetened fennel teas for every nursing mothers. I loves to drink fennel tea... I addicted it...

I still drink unsweetened fennel tea... and also chopped fresh fennel to hide mashed potatoes to feed babies... My both boys are now teenagers... I still mixed chopped fresh fennel with potatoes to boil and then mashed... mmmhhh http://www.btinternet.com/~grow.communities/images/Fennel_romanesco.jpg

I breastfed my son till he was almost 14 months old. I ate anything even soda. But he got upset stomach if I eat too much spicy but I limit to it and he was fine. Now he is healthy as a horse! Just be your self and if you noticed something bother Lexi, don't eat that till you stop breastfeeding. :) Great links, Jolie and Liebling!

Thanks everybody for your help.

i know what to do with Lexi's reactions after my breastfeeding but she LOVES spicy alot... Spicy dont bother her alot. Lexi's doctor says that native american and middle eastern and indan babies used to spicy during mothers eat alot of them and breastfeeding too. So, I'm native american plus Lexi got two different tribe of native american plus, I ate alot spicy food during she was in my tummy and still eat some of spicy during breastfeeding too.

Thanks the reason I ask ed for the link and hellp because Im planning to take Lexi, my best friend and her son to a place that where make apple juice, apple cider and etc by their own hands, I don't know if it's very safe to drink it during breastfeeding. So thanks!

I had breastfeeding with my son. I ate anything expect spicy. Expect you are on meds, dont use breastfeeding.

Don't eat chocolate because it's tough on the baby's digestive. Also some drugs you cannot take for pain.

But then my advice is probably useless as you might have known that. :)

Yes, there are many medications that you cannot take if you are breastfeeding. The best rule of thumb is, if you didn't eat or drink or take it during pregnancy, it's best not to have it while breastfeeding.

If the place making the apple juice is pasteurizing it, it shouldn't be a problem. I would be careful with an unpasteurized juice, though, because of the possibility of bacteria.

Agree about the chocolate. I breastfed until my son was a year old, and he couldn't tolerate chocolate.
