I moved from the fifth least drunk state to the fifth most drunk state a few years ago. Didn't make any difference in my lifestyle, since I don't drink. Made a lot of difference in my happiness, since I got away from a heavily Mormon area. I swear, some of them are drunk on religion. Everyone is different.
Economics as a measure of happiness is not a legit measure. Take a look at the stats on suicide and antidepressant use, if you want a wake-up call.
