This is not how you should be able to open a package.

You'll never know what's in the package til you open it. The lawyer probably was targeted. This is sad and heinous acts of crime and hope someone responsible is put into justice.

Yes it was. If the killer is caught, good chance it'll be a capital crime, and because a bomb was used, that's federal.

Or if it's not delivered by FedEx, USPS, or UPS. All of them check packages for explosives, so this could have been prevented. My ClearSpot was delivered by FedEx, and arrived 12 hours earlier than expected (It came from IN).

I hope this is not some insane person that plans on sending bombs to random people. There are so many crazy people out there!

People do send for certain items that have no return address. I have see ads on TV for Depends and they say there no return address for privacy .
