(Mods: I'll move this to travel and leisure after a while, please do not move this, thanks!)
Hey all, I am back! Finally now that I have my computer hooked up to the internet and all, I will be able to re-assume my moderating duties.
In case you guys are unfamiliar, I decided to move to Utah to Salt Lake City area. Deaf258 came to the East and we rode together in my small car, which was full of stuff, across the country. We took tons and tons of photos from the trip: 350 photos with digitial camera and about 200 with regular camera.
As a part of the trip, we made a game to find items that suited members of Alldeaf and took pictures of them. In the near future, I will be posting some pictures which Deaf258 and I thought that reminded us of certain members.
First day, we visited Lancaster, PA and Gettysburg, PA, and stayed overnight in Maryland. Second day was spent driving through MD, West VA, PA, Ohio and then we stayed overnight in Indianapolis.
Third day, we drove through Illinois to Havana, where I ended up finding a lot of information about my ancestors, where they lived, etc... Unfortunately, their house is gone and now a big cornfield. After that, we went to Nauvoo, Illinois to visit some historical places on the Mississippi River. That night, I drove through Iowa and we reached Omaha, Nebraska at 2 in the morning, where we decided to stay overnight.
Fourth day, we visited the Pioneer Centre at Omaha, then we drove to the middle of nowhere in Centre Nebraska to visit the area where my ancestors lived. Unfortunately, I could not find the ghost town of Cumro, nor the cemetery of my ancestors. But it was very interesting to see the landscape there, and to try to imagine how my ancestors must have felt, when they started homesteading there. We drove to Denver, Colorado and met up with PimpDaddyPosse and Lasza at a bar called Shooters. The deaf ppl were having a party at the bar. At the party, we also met Knightwolf68 and Wonderbum. Then we ate at Village Inn and went to another party. We chatted a lot until 5 in the morning!
Fifth day, we decided to stay in Denver, and visit with PDP and Lasza to see the city of Denver. PDP and Lasza were so kind to drive us around and show us the mountains and all. That night, Lasza, Deaf258 and I ate at a Mexican resto then Deaf258 and I stayed overnight in a motel.
Sixth day, we drove to Utah on I-70, which was an interesting experience for me. I had never done mountain driving, so my car was squealling as it was trying to go up the hill! I was so upset, I had to pull over and read my car manual to see what I had to do. Finally, I found out I had to turn my overdrive off in order to drive on the mountains and that helped! We drove to Provo and arrived there around 7 pm.
I know this is a long post, but if you have questions or comments, feel free to ask away! I will try to get my camera hooked up to my computer so that I can start posting pictures for members. Take care!
