a couple years ago, I was really excited when I heard that Panasonic was going to release a system that plays both GameCube games and DVDs but the most disappointing thing is, it WON'T come to America...it's only exclusive in Japan and other countries but WHY?? I was really upset because if i got that, i wouldn't get Xbox but then again, i guess i was glad to get Xbox since my favorite Dead or alive series is only exclusive on Xbox, and Halo has got my attention and became obsessed with that game ever since. DOA 3 and Halo were one of the first games i played on Xbox and they were really neat so that was the reason i got Xbox anyway...and since I heard that the new Resident Evil series is only exclusive on GameCube, I was really upset too...why would Sony let that main series go?? eh i guess it's actually Capcom's decsion and i guess Capcom did make a good decsion why? because games for GameCube are faster to load and cheaper to make 'em into mini discs and all that...so since Resident Evil (remake) came out on the cube, it got my attention that i wished that i already have the cube but not yet...so i got the cube for christmas last year with the copy of RE zero :P the game is pretty good though

so i already got Playstation 2 a couple years ago and got Xbox last summer and got GameCube for christmas...i guess i don't need Panasonic Q anymore...but if i got it before Xbox, PS2 and GameCube would be okay but Xbox seems to be cooler than GameCube because of hardrive, DVD player, and so on.

Well, i think i got enough anyway...PS2, Xbox, and GameCube and whenever the next gen war begins, I might get Nintendo's or Mircosoft's next system anyway :D

I am curious what kind of license did Panasonic get from Nintendo to produce that dvd player/gamecube system.

What type of license?

hmmm well $500 seems an awful lot of money so perhas i rather not get it anyway since i already have the regular GameCube and already have DVD players on PS2 and Xbox

(I heard that there is a new PS2 that doesn't include a DVD player, so that would be cheaper right?)

Well, that's because it is an IMPORT... so that's why it costs more.

New version for ps2 is still running for DvD. In additional, there is a new procession playback for dvd too and ps2 now can also read DVD+R. And new remote has a power button you can hit to turn it off instead your finger pushed hold to turn it off. reduce noise of cool fans.. I was thinking about gettting this new version system soon...

Pansison Q is the best.. it's much better than X box or ps2 if plays for dvd movies. Ask banjo...

I guess you're not familiar with copyright licenses. There's several types of licenses that companies acquire from different companies to produce.

You're still no help.

Come on, I guess you have no clue. So here is my answer your question is it's IBM to produce a Gamecube system. For Panasonic Q, those licenses are Nintendo, IBM, and of course Panasonic

Actually what I was looking for is that Nintendo licensed their clone for Japan only sales.

Yes IBM, Panasonic, and Nintendo worked together to make best possible for the GameCube. IBM is responsible for hardware, and Panasonic is responisble for audio and Nintendo is responisble for paying all of the stuff making the GameCube.

To be exact...

Nintendo, Panasonic, ATI and IBM have partnership on the Gamecube.

Actually, Factor 5 was responsible for the audio. They are also game developers too as well.

They're best known for making Star Wars games on N64 and Gamecube.
