My Nephew who was training in EMT is now training to become a firefighter, Kid is big (tall) and just turned 18, He is well on his way to retirement...

Aren't there some places that combine the two services? The patch that he has on his uniform in one of the photos makes me think he may be with one of them.

Yes, He started out as just an EMT which is just Ambulance service... Instead he switched to EMT with the fire department so he will be doing both, Probly working on the Fire Department Ambulance
