Ive just been told my work that they will be funding me 2 x Naida FM receivers.

I have red see through Naida UP aids but disapointed to discover that they do not do all the colours for the receivers. This means I will have to choose another colour.

Just being curious about what other people would choose?

They are the ML10i ones.

Receivers - ML10i | Phonak - life is on

Thank you.

If you choose a neutral colour you could use them with future HAs. My Phonak receivers are still going strong after several years.

Yea thats what I thought.

I want Naida hearing aids for life. If NHS wont pay for Naida, then I will go private. This means I hope, the Naida receivers will last a long time.

Thinking about going with dark brown or black, although I love the pink ones. Wish I chose pink aids really.

I think djchur has a good point in thinking of reusing them as you get different aid over the years. Another thing that has occurred to me is that in other products the on screen or printed colors sometimes don't match the actual that well and it would be an advantage if you could see the actual product before deciding.

Why would they need to be neutral to work with a future hearing aid? Or do you just mean a colour that goes with lots of other colour choices? Neutral to me means beige and brown and all those sick colours you have landed with whether you like it or not.

Remember that shapes change, though. Look at the body shape they have for the Naida H2O and Naida CRT, it's not the same as the other Naidas, it's going to be the direction they take. The hearing aid range which came before the CORE Naida had a different shape. If they can make a hearing aid smaller with new technology they always, always will. Phonak's literatures says "Everyone wants smaller hearing aids", and part of new marketing is always to change shapes and colours to the fashions of the day.

If you want to be able to swap to a direct input lead then you need the universal receivers not the integrated version, you cannot take the ML10i off and plug into direct input leads without removing the battery door with a special tool. The MLXi you can swap back and forth to audio input leads and they will fit any hearing aid in the future.

I did indeed mean a colour which would go with most other colours, please not beige, I've had to put up with that for forty years courtesy of the NHS! As others have suggested black would be a good choice. If there is a fear that integrated receivers may not fit future Naidas of a different size or shape there's always the option of sticking to universal ones, which will fit any HA providing you have the right audio shoe, but that would be boring and not look nearly as good as integrated receivers.

I really like the Naida FM receivers. I understand that future hearing aids may not fit the FM receivers. When I was at school, I have the wired connevans FM system.
Then when I got towards the end of school, I had the first set of ear level receivers which meant when the shoes needed to be replaced, you had to send the whole thing off. They also had these massive loops at the bottom of it for picking up the signal. My mum said it looked like I was wearing ear ring loops. The microphone was really cool as well as it was a small box and then a wire with the microphone at the end of it. Meant it was not banging around on the chest of the person wearing it.

I do see your point of getting universal receivers but then by the time the receivers dont fit the new Naidas, I would want a new FM system anyway. FM systems are getting better just like HA.

I see where you are coming from. I do think it is rather annoying that you will have to take the battery draw off to change over etc.

Think I will stick with the Naida receivers as by the time they wont work with the new Naida, I would want a new FM system as they are always getting better.

My hearing loss, wont fit the Naida CRT. Never heard of the Naida H2O. Will look it up out of interest.

May look for ear hooks to listen to music rather then direct input. Will speak to my audio.

Thank you.

I have both direct input leads and ear hooks for listening to music and find direct input much better. The problem with ear hooks is that you have to get them in exactly the right spot against your HAs for the T-coils to pick up the sound, I find that when I get it right I only have to move slightly and they move and I can no longer hear the music. My HAs are quite large SP aids though, maybe it is better with smaller aids, I don't know!

Yeah, ear hooks do suck, but remember that you can plug into your FM instead. You can use the 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead they use to plug mp3 players into car stereos and plug it into the audio input on the FM transmitter, then you eliminate the problem of changing back and forth. Problem solved! Then you are also still wireless, you can put your player and your transmitter in a bag and listen to music without getting all wound up in a load of wire.

The Naida H2O is a variant on the CRT so I think also not suitable for your hearing loss, but I suspect the next UP product will be trying to get a 675 battery into that sort of body form to match the rest of the range.
