what do NJ people think about this movie Jersey Girl???

Jersey Girl is set to be released in February 2004 according to several sources.

It's the latest Kevin Smith film. It's starring Ben Affleck and... (blech) Jennifer Lopez.

But since it's being directed by Kevin Smith, I'll see it.

Really?

Well I heard that they are planning to get married...

or did they call this whole thing off?

I mean the original Jersey Girl in 1992, Director: David Burton Morris
Cast: Jami Gertz, Molly Price, Star Jasper, Aida Turturro, Dylan McDermott, Joseph Bologna, Sheryl Lee, Joseph Mazzello

Summary:
A cute, ambitious Jersey girl dreams of life in the big city and meeting a Manhattan man, despite the objections of her more down-to-earth friends and family.

I found this funny homepage where someone wrote a letter to Kevn of the new 1994 movie Jersey Girl

Dear Kevin,

Well, I see that you didn't take my emailed advice to you last year
about not reusing the 1992 movie title Jersey Girl, starring Jamie
Gertz and good ol' Dylan McD.

But now I see that the nightmare gets worse, since according to the
cast list of the film you're again feeding on the dubious boxoffice
bones of Ben Affleck. And you've added Steve Tyler's kid - you were
also going for Armaggedon 2, perhaps?

And what's J-Lo doing there? How is a Latina a Jersey girl? A true
Jersey girl, as you should well know (Red Bank boy) would be
Italian!!!

(But I haven't seen the flick yet, and maybe little Miss Arrowsmith
Junior is supposed to be from Joisey?!)

Let's hope your future films will at least steer clear of repeating the
titles and cast pairings of your inferiors in the business.

I believe you to be a FAR better director than most of them, so it pains
me to see you lower yourself in this way.

Best wishes!

Ahh Jersey Girl featuring Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. As a Jersey native...I know that Jennifer Lopez did not deserve to be in that movie since she's a Bronx native..need I say, a fake Jersey wannabe?

To answer BabyPhat21's question..I saw some part of old Jersey Girl movie, but I didn't see the whole thing. So I can't really tell you what I think of it

You know, it's not your movie. It's Kevin Smith's movie and he'll do whatever he want to do with it. He's the one who wrote and directed the flick.

You don't have to be a Jersey native to be a Jersey Girl.

You can act like one if you are talented enough to do so. Besides, isn't that what acting's about?

Pretending to be someone else?

Yup, that sounds pretty much what acting's about.

Banjo-

BabyPhat21 asked what NJ people thought about the movie, and I am from NJ, so I said what I thought of that movie. No need to bash. Sure it's not my movie but can't I say my opinions on that?

I'm not stopping you from expressing your opinions. By the way, you just contradicted yourself on the bashing bit. You're bashing Jennifer Lopez playing a New Jersey native while she's not a real New Jersey native.

After all, I didn't hear anybody complaining about Ben Affleck playing the role of DareDevil since Ben Affleck wasn't blind. I didn't hear anybody complaining about famous actors playing the roles of mentally challenged characters.

Actors, it's their job to act as a different character rather than their own.

Sure it's not my movie but can't I say my opinions on that?

Personally, I think it's better to keep opinions to yourself till you've seen the movie to make a better-balanced judgement. But personally, I don't care for Jennifer Lopez, and I don't care if she deserved the role or not. It's the performance that counts.

At least, that's my opinion of people making judgements on movies they haven't even seen.

But I'm not saying that they should just shut up. But I would caution them to think twice before saying something that they may regret later.
