TV talk show host Jay Leno fell ill and checked himself into a Los Angeles, California, hospital on Thursday, his representative said.

Tracy St. Pierre would not disclose the nature of Leno's illness.

Leno will be 59 on Tuesday.

NBC canceled tapings of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" scheduled for Thursday and Friday, she said.

The network will rerun the March 26 show on Thursday, which features a musical performance by Prince and interviews with actors Paul Giamatti and Emma Roberts, according to the show's Web site.

Actor Ryan Reynolds, animal trainer Jules Sylvester and swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy had been booked for Thursday's show.

CNN's Anderson Cooper, anchor of "Anderson Cooper 360," was scheduled to appear on Friday's show.

The network did not announce which show would be broadcast on Friday.

I hope it's nothing serious and he gets better.
 
I hope he gets better. I know he has a massive garage full of cars to take care of.
 
The national news last evening did say he had food poisoning.
 
He is one of my favorite comedians. I hope he is feeling much better so he can crack alot of jokes on TV.
 
Sucks, I really like watching some of the tonight shows. Jay's good at his stuff.

Maybe this will lead him to consider that retirement he was thinking of earlier. But who will take over the show? Conan O'Brien?

May 29th will be his final appearance on the Tonight Show. This fall he will have his new show called Jay Leno Show at 10 p.m.

Following his retirement from the Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien will take over him then.

NBC canceled tapings of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" scheduled for both Thursday and Friday and replaced the broadcasts with reruns after Leno fell ill and checked himself into a Los Angeles hospital Thursday, St. Pierre said.

Leno will be 59 on Tuesday.

Prolly because many like his shows - myself included. I'm sure he can take care of himself and all.
