Is your driving license ready for the Real ID Law?

Massachusetts driving licenses are not ready and I just renewed mine last year. I hope this does not mean I will have pay for a updated one.

Apparently not my state:

"Four states (Maine, Montana, New Hampshire and South Carolina) have expressly rejected the system and none asked for an extension."

EPIC - National ID and the REAL ID Act

Update:

"Extensions: DHS also announced that 21 states/territories—Arkansas, California, District of Columbia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and the Virgin Islands—will receive a compliance extension based on their movement toward full compliance. Licenses from these states will be accepted for federal purposes during the extension period. These extensions will expire on Oct. 10, 2014 and can be renewed."

My DL has that RealID feature, it's amazing how they're cracking down on valid IDs. I not only had to show my birth certificate but an utility bill and a bank statement with my address. And even when I showed all those they didn't issue me a DL right then; they gave me a temporary license and I had to wait a few weeks to get my real license in the mail.

Even the my signature is made of raised ink so you can feel it.

So much for freedom in USAnia. Proposals to introduce ID cards in the UK were thrown out in 2010. Nobody will be subjected to them. France still has them but they are a legacy of the Nazi occupation. They should have done away with them a long time ago but people have just grown used to them.

Wut? You aren't making sense. You are required to carry ID to buy alcoholic beverage, medicines that are part of controlled substance, operate the car, bank, government welfare, also require passport to enter other country.

And some cities and towns are having people show a photo ID when voting as people are stealing other people vote. I had an ID card when I did not have a driving license , I was had to show an ID when paying with check or to prove how old I was. My ID card expired and I did not realize and went to use it at a store , the saleswoman said my Id was no good it expired , and I told the saleswoman that " I am still me ,I didn't expired " .

My new Chase bank requires an ID as proof of who I am. The other Chase bank on the other side of the area didn't require me to show an ID, because they had the ATM card thingy. The new bank does NOT have this, and it's a major upgrade from what customers are used to.

I think enhanced drivers license is better then dumb real id
