who is your leader? why?

so far, i havent see any deaf leader yet..
but i think our leader in our world is Jerry Stovall.. is he?

just an opinion.. that all

i want to be a leader in our world .. someday i can be..
i dont mind if i am not.. smile!

Dr. Robert Davila is the new president of Gallaudet...he is a pretty powerful deaf person. Marlee Matlin is a very famous deaf person, even people who don't know any deaf people know about her. But leaders...I'm not sure. Powerful, famous...you can be those things without being a leader.

Why not be a leader NOW? What's holding you back? Go for it. :D

Maybe Famous leader deaf Jockey :D :D J\K

I am only thought >> Marlee Matlin is leader of deaf culture? :dunno2: :D

to me, Marlee is something else , right now.. because we all as deaf community were had mixed feeling about her.. so.. it is up to everyone..

Gary M, that is nice! wow!

lol! i may be famous deaf jockey! who knows! i must study racing or something .. anything related it and racing hard! then that it! :D

I don't know if Marlee is a leader or not. She is famous, she is inspirational (lots of articles right now about her inspiring deaf people to dance), she is a good role model, she is popular, she is beautiful. But I'm not sure that she's leading anything...to me you have to be in a position of influence to be a leader. So even though she is very famous...she doesn't really have major influence. Who knows, maybe in her new role on the Gallaudet Board of Trustees she will show more leadership.

But damn, I would love to meet her someday!

I just thought of something now.

Heather Whitestone McCallum, the first deaf lady to be crowned Miss America back in 1995. She has been an influence in the political community, so it would seem that she somewhat falls in that category.

She's not culturally Deaf though...she is "hearing impaired".

I dont see her as a good leader for the Deaf world. I would choose Marlee over her.

i agree about marlee and heather.. yea marlee is more than heather.. but marlee is just something example of what deaf can do on national tv thing.. you know i mean.. it shows all of us ... but what is about sport.. i know few deaf in sport ... they didnt interviewing them on national tv.. like what marlee did.. maybe one day i would be! bec of course i am future jockey so they can interview me on nation tv at KY Derby! lol you know! i know it would be nice because alot of people knows me and see on it tv they feel good to know.. like pride! :D

How true. Being a good leader is really to serve those you lead and to take them somewhere worth going to.

Yep. Davila used to be vice president at NTID. :)
