Iraq War Vet: Homeowners Assoc. Asked Me to Take Flag Down

We can only have a flag up on a holiday , for some crazy idea this is common with condo and HOA . I feel a vet should be able to have a flag up all year if they want.

This is ridiculous. I can not believe that Home Assoication had the nerve to ask the vet to take the American flag down which in Charleston, NC, we want the government to take the confederation flag down. Those two flags are different. HUD or HOA are just dumb every time we were being put down for their superior and satisfaction. They are morons.

Take confederate flag down? No thanks and I believe that confederate flag represents southern heritage and state rights.

I grew up in southern states so sorry if you are bitter with me.

Old slavery is obsolete and no longer accepted, but modern slavery is sex trafficking in Asian countries.

HOA is so full of baloney.

In my neighborhood, two of the neighbors flagged it up two weeks before Memorial day and they still have it up probably until after July 4th. No one complains because that's their American pride. We support them 100% (American flag, not other one).

Slavery in your passed dreadfull slavery going on now as bad...The best memorial is all people AND all afro/americans stand up and scream about that not piece of cloth

Modern slavery is alive and well in the US, not just Asian countries. They just busted a sex trafficking ring at a rodeo recently.

Sadly I would have to say it is much broader than just rhat.... human trafficking is a global issue...while some nations may be more open to it...for the most part it is hidden... but still gloabal...

Only way to get any of the rules of an HOA changed is to attend meetings and have the votes needed to change rules. Some HOA's are better than others and some act like dictatorships.

Right, it can be done if those residents are open-minded. I don't get why they want the beautiful flag down.

That HOA regulation is the goofiest one yet.

We have an HOA for our neighborhood but we have no rules about flying flags. Some residents have porch flags (like we do) and some have full-size freestanding flag poles in their front yards. No problem.

One neighbor of mine displayed a lot of miniature flags/decorations along with a full-size flag in her front yard for a few days around Memorial Day. It was beautiful to see. (No HOA)

I agree, I reviewed the HOA regulation for our subdivision - they state about exterior - mostly front yard and it is less restrictive when compare to other HOA, also anyone can park RV, boat and commerical truck in their driveway. No one can park the cars on grass.

I learned about super lien law that where passed in Alabama in 1990 that allow HOA to foreclose the property if you have mortgage, but in most states, including SC and TX, HOA cannot foreclose your property if you have mortgage.

Our HOA never foreclose the property but they negotiate with homeowners who are not paying HOA due and they don't fine anyone for violation, but they will submit a letter or HOA president visitation to correct the problem, especially remove cars from grass.

I was shocked that our city told us that HOA is responsible for road in our subdivision and our neighbors are disappointed with city. We need our road to be paved and filled in. Our HOA has no money for road and they are not sure about increase the due because many neighbors don't want to increase the due to cover the road. I believe that new road pavement may cost more than $1 million.

There is best for you - California doesn't have super lien law so that means HOA can't foreclose your house if you have mortgage.
