My name is Terence Green, I've created an iPhone case that uses "LED Flash for Alerts" an iOS Accessibility Feature for the Hearing Impaired. Using the iPhone's camera flash, this feature strobes the camera flash every time you receive a notification on your iPhone. The only challenge is that your iPhone must lie face down in order for the flash to be visible, because the flash is on the back of the phone. My iPhone case which I've named FLASHr, allows the strobe effect to be seen in any orientation by lighting up the sides of the case. Here is a link to our current Kickstarter.com project and I've attached an image of FLASHr for your reference.

FLASHr: iOS LED Flash Notifications Case for iPhone 4/4s by Terence Green + Trey DeArk (Phaze5) — Kickstarter

A little bit of back story...

I make a living as a professional musician in New Orleans. I perform all over the country and sometimes I'm notified at the last minute about opportunities over the phone. About 5 months ago I had a sinus infection that caused severe ear pressure, and greatly impaired my hearing. As a musician, who's never had hearing problems, I found my profession very challenging. I missed gigs due to many missed phone calls, texts, and emails. I learned about a feature on the iPhone called "LED Flash for Alerts" that I thought would help with my problem. With this feature enabled, it allowed for the iPhone's LED flash to be used as a notification light. There was one big problem. It was on the back of the phone, which made it pretty much useless. This sparked me to think of ways to utilize this feature in a more efficient way. So I came up with the idea to make a case. Together with my friend Trey, a mechanical designer, we were able to turn this idea into a reality. As I mentioned before the case is called FLASHr and it's on Kickstarter.com right now. We need your help to spread the word about our campaign for funding to make this project a reality. Although this case would make anyone's notifications more visible, I feel as though this community could benefit from something like the Flashr case, even if the aren't visiting the gadget sites to learn about it. I've posted a link to the project below. Please spread the word and feel free to re-post the link.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Terence Green

This is really interesting!! I like all the pretty colors lol. The only downside is that I don't have an iPhone :( I would also suggest that you figure out a way to make the phone light up regardless of the position it is sitting in. A lot of us carry our phones in our pockets, and it'd be nice to have the phones still light up in our pockets, as these cases do seem quite bright.

You really should consider making similar cases for Android phones if this project does become highly successful.
