The Deaf Council is a non profit organization that aims to promote awareness and interaction between the Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities. The Council seeks to break the barrier of communication between these two groups and create awareness of the Deaf/hard of hearing and their presence in communities worldwide.

We strive to help the Deaf owned businesses or businesses geared toward the Deaf community grow. The Deaf Council hopes to encourage networking between professionals in variety of fields. We also invite the general public to come and socialize, have a good time and network in their own interests. If people want to learn sign language, they are also invited. The purpose of the event is to encourage networking, help each other grow, personal or business wise. There will be advice shared, jokes told, and new friendships forged. We will also give back to the Deaf community by fund raising for a Deaf related charity.

We will provide free refreshments and the event will be held in an art gallery. There will be good times and networking.

We invite you and your organization to come, share your experiences, and meet new people. Don’t forget to bring your business cards!

When: September 23, 2010--- 6 PM to 8:30 PM
Where: Tamarind Art Gallery
142 E. 39th Street
New York, NY 10016

I'll think about it :)

Totally wish I could come, as this is right up my ally (have a Dhh business), and my sister lives in NYC, so I could crash with her, but I can't come down right before a big business day.
