Got an invitation to a Birthday Bash from my friend's daughter (who turns 39)....have known her since she was a little girl, but lost contact with both of them over the years....Reconnected slightly over the internet and chat here and there (not often)...

It's to be at a Sports Bar, and which most likely I will not attend....Nothing was said about the food or drinks....

The only thing that caught my eye was at the end of the invitation...which said:

"Bring gifts or $$"...

:hmm:...made me scratch my head....

It would make me shake my head in disbelief. It seems so crass.

I'd go but bring a really cheap and/or silly/dumb gift :D

But that's me...

difficult one..Think I put $10 in card and send that..If nothing said about food drink either is none or cheapest one on menue with few glasses of wine...

I would be tempting to send an empty box that been gifted wrapped.
This is so tasteless and I guess you really didn't miss much by losing contact with the person.

empty nice gift wrapped box containg your love and a kiss

Sent her a msg. and asked her if she was providing the cake, finger foods, drinks, etc.?....she said "No...and you all will have to get together to make the Cake".....

I tried to be "easy" on her and told her that what she was requiring (gifts or $$) didn't sound too well...she replied..."Well, it's not Xmas!"...and "nobody ever gives me a party or brings anything...so I have to be rude about it!".....:hmm:

So I just figured it best to say..."OK, have a good one and Happy Birthday...I won't be able to attend...and let ya go for now...TTYL"

She seems so "entitled"...

GEE , I wonder why no one want to be around her and give her gifts :hmm:

I was thinking you could made a check out one of your favorite charities and send a card to this person telling her you gave a gift to a
charity in her name. That might give her some food for thought .

I like your answer. I cannot believe anyone would ask for all that. What is she 10 years old?

that best answer to give...she seems one grasping young lady

That's really strange.

I don't think you missed much in the years you fell out of touch.

Is she for real?

Hmm, I wonder why no one ever gives her a party or gifts? :hmm:

At least she admitted that she's rude!

I definitely would pass on that party. I have tried to reconnect with a few long lost friends only to find out that I want them to remain long lost friends.

I started talking via FB to a long lost friend and soon found out she wanted to bring her whole family to stay with me for ten days. I did not accept the invitation and we have not spoken since. Some things are better left in the past.
