To be able to communicate to people when were deaf and still speak

There are apps that do this, though I don't know how well.

This one is currently available, but my hunch is it just uses standard voice to text, so it'll probably be shoddy:

And this one is new, currently in beta, and looks more promising since it handles multi-person conversations pretty slick-like and has a team that seems pretty cool behind it:

Coupled with glass, these could be even cooler. But even as-is on a phone, assuming they actually speech to text well, it could be great.

I do have that on my cellphone but some words are not correctly spelled or spoken right.

Sign is superior...
I think we'd all agree that if everyone was fluent in sign it would be superior. But for folks who are (also) part of the hearing community they're going to have to interact with non-signers regularly. Having some tech to support those kind of interactions would be great.

I agree that meaning can get lost using an app/service like that, and sign can convey more, but it's just not always a possibility. It takes time to learn, and a long time to become fluent. Something like this would be a great stop-gap, or useful when communicating with non-signers who rarely communicate with Deaf.

Ya I figured that's what that app would be like. I signed up for the Transcense beta, hopefully I'll get in. I'm super curious to see if it'll be better, it's a different type of system so it has potential, I think.
