Hi all! I'm in my first semester of a Deaf Culture class at the community college of Philadelphia.

My teacher sent me the questions to this interview yesterday, and the paper is due Friday. I'd love to get as many responses as I can!

c.Is this your preferred method of communication? Why or why not?

5.Perspective about Hearing World

a.What is your attitude towards hearing people?

e.Did you make friends easily? Why or why not?Did not make friends. Very shy and some communication difficulties.

a.At work?Work with animals, no speech.
b.With your family? Spouse?Speech and sign
c.Is this your preferred method of communication? Why or why not?Yes my favorite, the combination of speech and sign works very well for us.

4.RelationshipYes?

a.Are you currently in a relationship?Yes.
b.How do you communicate with your partner?Speech and sign.
c.Do you wish s/he learned to sign better? Why or why not?My husband does work always to sign better.

5.Perspective about Hearing WorldLots of my family are hearing.

a.What is your attitude towards hearing people?As long as they are not pitying or patronizing I am fine with them.
b.Do you believe hearing people should learn basic sign language? Why or why not?Not unless they interact with deaf people.
c.Describe positive and/or negative experiences from when you were young?No
d.What is your dream /wish to be granted by hearing people?I can make my own wishes come true. I don't need them granted by hearing people.:)

6.Extended FamilyYes indeed.

a.Do you have children? If so, do you expect your children to learn sign language? Why or why not?My children are grown up. They do know sign. They had me and they had deaf peers.
b.Do you have any pets?2 dogs. 1 cat. If so, how do you communicate with your pets?Dogs hear. I speak to them. And use sign when bringing them in from outside. The cat is deaf. He knows some signs, and stomping on the floor to get his attention and showing him milk bottle, or a toy is useful.
