Interesting

I've heard of bionic eyes before. I'm not sure I'd choose to undergo this kind of surgery myself, but I still think it's an exciting development just the same.

If I were to have bionic eyes, I guess that would make me as close to a bionic woman as you can get. :giggle:

I think I would go through it if faced with blindness. I understand, Lisa, that you have been blind since birth and do not know anything else. That does color your judgment. I, on the other hand, having been sighted since birth, much like being hearing since birth, would try anything viable to get some sense of normalcy. At least for someone that has had both. Does that make sense?

ET,

That makes perfect sense. It's only natural for someone who has relied on their sight and/or hearing to find a way to restore it through surgical means. Since I was born totally blind, I have no desire to see. The way I like to explain it to people is by telling them you can't miss what you never had. However, my hearing is a different matter. I grew up hearing which is why I chose to be implanted. I don't have any problems with being totally deafblind, but my primary reason for getting CIs was for my own personal safety.

Exactly!
