Wait, wait, wait, what is all this anti-curlism nonsense?? If you've got curly hair, love it, revel in it, get a cut that shows it off!!

I was a miserable, always-trying-to-straighten my hair girl until I finally got smart and decided to work with what I've got instead of fighting it all the time. WAY easier and less time-consuming.

Get yourself a copy of "Curly Girl: The Handbook." "Amazon.com: Curly Girl: The Handbook (9780761156789): Lorraine Massey, Michele Bender: Books"

The main thing she points out is that a good haircut is absolutely essential.

Products I personally like: John Frieda Collection, Frizz-Ease Hair Serum and Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Curl-Perfecting Spray.

The serum really cuts down the frizz, even in North Carolina heat and humidity, and the spray brings out nice, un-frizzy waves.

A Bedhead product called "Superstar" (comes in a purple-ish, curvy bottle) is good too, for volume. Works well if you want to blow-dry your hair with a round brush for shaping.

Don't bother with a flat iron at all, is my advice. It won't work for long, it takes way too much time, and the minute any humidity hits your hair, zzzzt, here comes the frizz again, anyway. Forget about it and love yourself the way you are!

Just a bit of advice from one curly-head to another.

Same thing with being Deaf.... Fight it, you get somewhere but not for long. Cherish it, you will live easier.

Wow! Talk about not being able to apply concepts to your own life! Nice find, PFH!

So TRUE!!!

I spent all of my childhood and a part of my adulthood fighting my deafness. Didn't get me anywhere for shit.

No doubt. My kid has curly hair and is deaf, too. I taught him not to fight either one of them. Result: a person that loves who he is just as he is.

Is that correct-"curly hair" for pfh who claims to be bald?
Okay -this is computer screen-unreality reigns!

Once again, you are terribly confused by the fluid thought processes going on here.

Braid, braid, braid. Unless you want to hide your HA's. :giggle:

Metaphors, metaphors, metaphors.

Lawdy...Lawdy...who cares if he's a baldie...or a curly-haired "peek-a-boo"

'Scuse me...I'm in a silly frame of mind this evening...

What was that commercial that had the spray to make men's hair "grow"...and the person talking always end up saying he's not only the president, but he's also a client...?

Braiding my hair MAKES it curly. If everyone braided, no-one would complain. And some deafies would show off the fact that they function very well without HA's.

I braid mine for kind of the same reason. It makes the curls more like waves and tones it down a bit. But I am all for the deafies showing those HAs off!

The other good metaphor is that "A Bird of a Different Feather" (I think that is what it was called...I'm fuzzy today). Same concept...cannot change who we are but accept what we have to offer.
