My leaft hearing aid is not working and cannot get it fixed until next Monday. The problem is I work in a call center and both my ears are practically useless unaided. My right hearing aid is working fine but my right ear is the worst of the two, not that the left ear is worth spit. My despencer will not be in his office until Monday (family emergency). I have four days left to work before I start my vacation & don't I can make it through with my sanity intact. Help!!

Hmmm... as a hearie I don't know what you could/should do.... but I'd consider talking to my boss about it. Maybe he can give you some extra leave that you will have to catch up on a later date...

Could you see a different audi just this once so that you can have your hearing aid programmed?

You may also want to look into requesting a powerful amplified phone from your employer so that if this happens again, you could still hear well enough to make phone calls (provided that you have enough hearing unaided to do so).

Can't you put the right HA on the left earmold? I am sure that will tide you over until you can get the left HA fixed.

That HA may have been programmed differently than the left, perhaps less gains? It's worth a try though.

I was going to make the same suggestion, but if the OP's left and right hearing aids are programmed differently, this may cause a problem -- especially if the right hearing aid is louder than the left. If that's the case, I don't recommend doing this since it has the potential to damage one's remaining hearing.

I did this once, when my right HA was faulty. My audi told me she understood why I had done it, but that I must never do it again because my left HA is set up with much more gain than the right, and that it could damage the residual hearing in my right ear.

I wear super-power HAs, which come with a warning that they can damage residual hearing if not prescribed correctly, but I'm sure the same might apply to any HA.

Good luck to you, I have fits of anxiety when my Aid stops working. Hugs to you.
