Your audiologist tells you following a hearing test that you have, ite's might be OK for you. Would this: shock you, please you because you have not really liked your bte's, ask "are you sure", know this is VERY unlikely, or provoke a different reaction? What would you do with your bte's if you did try ite's?

I would prefer to keep my BTE's. It is what I've worn all my life.

i no longer wear hearing aids, but if my audi said this to me (especially if my loss was such that i could not benefit from ite's), i'd look for another audi. i don't like audis who speculate and tell me that something might work. i want them to understand my hearing loss and tell me the truth about what kind of aids will work and which ones won't.

when i had moderately-severe hearing loss, my audi refused to fit me with ite, itc or cic aids because she knew i was a self-conscious 15 year old. instead, she opted for bte's and i'm so glad she did. thanks to her decision, i never had to make the transition from smaller aids to larger aids.

aside from that, bte's have more advantages to them than the other models i mentioned.

Well overall the only "advantage" that ITEs have over BTEs is "cosmetic"
Most of the dinky aids don't have enough power for more then a mild loss.

Always had BTE's, Would never have ITE's anyway due to the severity of my deafness.

Personally, I didn't want my CICs when my audi said I could have them because I didn't think they would be powerful enuf for me but he said starkey came out with the first and only powerful cic's for my severe hearing loss so I bought them. They work for me. I kept my bte's but then I accidently threw them out while cleaning my car - - they were in a dry aid container. anyway, if your audi said so, get the starkey's cuz they work just like a bte.
