I agree with you on this with one exception. I think some shows on the History Channel might be too intense for really young kids. However, I agree with you that they should watch educational television.
We let my sister's kids watch Disney movies, Sesame Street and other cartoons. Just this year we started allowing them to see Star Wars and the Harry Potter movies. My nephew is a very sensitive child and these movies frightened him up until very recently.
