If when you wore a hearing aid/s for the first time...

you covered it or them with your hair, and you don't do now, or you did not cover it or them with your hair then, and you do now, what influenced your change re this?
 
I did when i first got it cuz i was nervous what pples reacton would be...now i dont care much at all if ppl see and its better too so they know i am deaf/hoh so no matter
 
Never had that dillemma as I always wore my hair as short as a boy's so yeah they were visible..

Later at my teen years got them long but I noticed a decrease in performance at HA's and got them cut again short..

it was not of any concern for me if they saw HA or CI ..

even now that I have a china chop haircut i wear the magnet over the hair and most people do not notice the cord and think that the magnet is a new sort of hair ornament ( that from a neighbor .. I thought it was too hilarious!!! )

I am going to cut them short as a boy's soon not because of CI , but because I'm tired of styling the china chop all the time!
 
Nope, never covered it. Why? because it covers up the microphone and I can't hear as clearly. I pretty much always had my hair up. I did have some kids point it out to me, but over time you just get used to it. Just like people would point out when someone has been badly burned, bad acne, missing an arm, blind, etc. You just learn to ignore.

Compared hearing aids to HUGE bte CI...mine is probably MORE obvious cuz I have a "weird" thing on the sides of my head. I could care less. People find it pretty funny when I take off the coil and pop it on. Put metal forks on the side of my head. It ease their feelings about it, and I'm educating them at the same time.
 
I have never thought about that on covering my hair over the hearing aid. I always put my hair up like pony tail or tie my hair up. I was never ashamed to wear my hearing aid, except once when I was young girl like twelve years old and I became aware of having three breasts (the old hearing aid model put in the bag between my breasts in front of my chest). That is the most embarrassing that I was ashamed to show it to people. Glad that they invented the behind the ear hearing aid better and not ashamed to show off my look. Hearing aid are all right for me so I am used to it for many years. :)
 
When I was a kid my parents always made me have short hair so I did not have a choice.

When I grew up I don''t like the way long hair feels so it is still very short so I have always had a hearing aid that can be seen.

Lots of other people do too.
 
Vivie, what is a China cut?

I never cover HA cuz I always like my hair shave short around my ear like most guys do.
