My deaf friend who is low income and can't afford for Hight Speed Ineternet so couldn't have VP but I am wonder abt this one...does that good or not?? I though of having my own one, too lol but I do have VP but like to have my own without having worry if anyone trying to take my VP if not use it at all!! Blah....but I am still waiting for that person... Umm... geez I forget her name... ahh ok this RedheadGrrl here will find out abt that...

So that why I was wonder abt this one... that all I need to know and it is mostly for my deaf friend who want VP so badly!

Thanks!

In order to get superior video quality over the internet, the high speed internet is MANDATORY, no question about it. Reason, is that with video, it sends huge amount of data over the internet, There is no way around. That I-2eye is just same as Sorenson VP-100! Both build the same thing with exception that the software is different.

I don't understand why they can't afford high speed internet access, they cost around 40 dollars a month, comparing with telephone line cost 20-30 dollars plus dial up ISP fee anywhere from 9.95 to 24.95 a month which exceeded the cost of high speed internet service.

Worried about TTY? Not necesarily need a phone line. Can always download free TTY software from NXIcom and the service is really free! What you got to lose?

Actually, u have to understand that my deaf friend is very low on SSI unable to find a job....(pls do not ask any questions abt this one ok?? Thank you!) so it is very differectul to pay as well as this person has to pay others that is very high! This person is pretty derpression and I am trying to find that is lower than that but as u said 40 dollars that is for DSL? DSL is better for this person than cable cuz cable cost more! Soo u see why it is very hard as I have had sesrach high and lows... mostly too high but 40 dollars still can't afford! Sighs.. I feel bad for my friend....

As for TTY things, do u have link for it? Thanks! However, this friend rather have VP lol but umm... I was just asking abt this i2eye cuz it stand alone without computer!!!!! So that why I want to know abt it...

Oh well... thanks for try tho!

Well, there is no other way as far as I know for sure. FYI Sorenson VP-100 and I2eye are just basically the same thing, and you need to understand the "minimum" requirement and that is no excception. technology does not care the person's income. I do not mean to be offensive but it is the way it is. To better understand the video phone technology, if the speed is to be reduced below the 192KBPS, then the video WILL get choppy, freezes, pixeling and blurry. That is because the videostream werent sent out enough data. These dial up conection maximum speed is around 56kbps, that is 4 times loss of the data, meaning you won't get good image. Nothing to do with VP unit itself. It is all about the high speed connectivity. The higher the internet speed the more superior video you will get. Bottom line is minimum requirement for getting free VP is around 350KBPS upload speed. So again, dial up has limit of 56KBPS so therefore it is not able to meet the requirement. Videophone, does not matter what brand or model still relies on high speed internet connection.

If this person isn't qualified with Sorenson free VP application due to lack of high speed internet, then you can bet on that I2eye will NOT work, period.
But, you are free to shell out 200 dollars to find out the hard truth.

The equipment is D-Link. The video phone service is i2eye. That's all I know.

Both are provided by CSD through contracts.

That's why Sorenson isn't allowed anywhere on campus. Anyone caught trying to install or advertise Sorenson in the dorms are kicked out.

It's all part of their contract.

As long as NTID focuses on products and services provided by CSD, CSD will continue to donate money towards NTID.

It's like RIT's contract with Pepsi. As long as RIT only sells Pepsi products, Pepsi will donate money to RIT.

Yeah, it doesn't really affect me much.

I've always preferred Coke products, so that's one problem for me.

However, I've never really cared for i2eye, D-Link, Sorenson, etc... so that doesn't bother me. :)
