Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Bold )

What are some examples of things you are struggling with?

We can help better if we know what you are having trouble with.

Ask your husband to help you with ASL. Many deaf people that I talk to have said they'll rather teach their SO ASL themselves as opposed to spending $$$ on ASL classes.

did you tried on struggle? did you communication to encourage to ASL?

edit my opinion

you learn how ASL communication with deaf help first to write!!, ask to deaf help you communication understand clear explain how interpreter hearing or with friends support clear help support?

The major thing you can do: accept your husband's condition. how much has changed since you got married?

Unstated: is your husband "able to use a Hearing Aid"? Any consideration re Cochlear Implants-if suitable? Does he use ASL now?

Contingent on what his actuality is-will guide you on how to react.

Much success in the immediate future.

First of all I want to say is: congrats on your one year anniversary of marriage!

I have a Hearing spouse since I am Deaf. Um.. Fortunately for me, my wife already knew ASL for 15 years up to the time I first met her. That made bit easier for me. If not, I would have signed but also I would have recommended and this is what I tell people if they want to learn ASL. It is free. Go check out online for ASL sign concepts. Free online videos. I hope you find it. :)

Does he can talk very well? That would be no problem. I can talk very well. However, if I use my voice, my wife uses her voice and not signing. That is a problem. Ask your spouse to focus only on signing with you so you can practice signing.

I'm the one who is HOH and my husband is fully hearing. :P As my hearing has dropped (I still have 2 hearing aids which help in quiet environments), my husband has become my advocate. :) We are learning ASL together, for free, through our local Deaf/HOH advocacy agency (they get funding from the feds and the state, and grants and donations). We took the beginning level last fall, and are waiting for the agency to have the funding to offer the next series of classes in the fall. Until then, because we don't know enough, and know no one in our daily lives who is fluent in ASL, we want to continue on. We have Level 1 from Signing Naturally Level 1 - Student Edition and we are going to borrow it from her and try it out. If we like it, we'll go on with it and then get Levels 2 & 3 later. :P Also, this web site has free videos and lessons as well: • ASL • American Sign Language

Hope this helps! :)
