PFHHHT! too expensive! Get a Digital camera...You can get print at any store and get a picture on same day.
If you print the digital pictures they do use paper and ink.Digital cameras are better because films and Polaroid films contain chemicals. A perfect example - Kodak illegally dumped old chemicals in the underground next to a deaf school and house residences (not NTID). That was 10 years ago. They sued the company and won the case, but they only received a very small amount of money which is not good enough for them. The lawyers have the most money.
It is very common that college employees (photographers) threw old or ruined films in the full trash every week which is not good for our environment. They can be recycled, but the problem is that a few chemicals in films cannot be recycled.
Digital storage (diskes) contains some chemicals, but it is much less than the film. Most of us keep the flashcards, SDcards, etc..., which last a long time. No worries for the environment.
We need to think about green environment to make us healthy - not quite perfect yet ... some president's factory is not listening to us...
(Actually, I used to love Polaroid cameras, but it is time for me to change the camera.)

Digital cameras eat up batteries a lot quicker than non-digital. Batteries are not good for land fills.
You're right, nothing's perfect.
The original Polaroid Land camera's were kind of nasty to use. They were bulky and expensive. The pictures had to be smeared with a gooey, stinky chemical after they developed (which took a long time), and waved around in the air to dry. I still remember the smell. The pictures were black and white only, and they had to be mounted on cardboard to prevent curling. Sometimes they streaked as they came out of the camera.
But we thought they were great! :P
the camera I have needs batteries.. wish it could be charged by plug.. would make my life 20 times easier
Some cameras can't use rechargeable batteries.
But if you want to get environmentally picky (which I don't), recharging a battery still uses electricity. Depending on the source of your electricity (hydro v. coal, for example) it's using up a natural resource.
It's always something.
Actually, polaroids are only 10 to 30 dollars depending on where you buy it... mine was only 15 and i've had it for 5 years now.. whereas digital cameras are upwards of 50 bucks. I have both a polaroid camera and a digital camera.. and my digital cost me 150... have had the digital for 4 years now.
Actually, you would have to wait a few minutes for your picture to be developed before the celebrity can sign it.What if you meet the celebity and took picture then ask for autography right away instead digital camera and wait for couple hours to days and he or she already gone?
And expensive? ha.... ha... that's laugh. it's frickin cheap to buy own one. Compare to digital camera. However, you're right, it's expensive to get "film". hahaaaa
Reba< i had own high end d-camera slr called CANON 30D, I use this camera with Li-ion batteries for two weeks to a month. I more like high ended camera than p&s.. the slr wont eat batteries so quickly than the p&s.If you print

Cool! When I was in the Navy, I took courses in basic photography, and photo journalism. We did all our own processing and printing in the dark room. I agree with you, it's so much fun to do your own printing. In high school: teen, I was used to take photography classes for film and develop films in dark room.. I love it..
Yes, more control of your settings.... I more like high ended camera than p&s...
A small digital camera is easy to carry, especially for family activities, like trips to the zoo with kids. :P... Digital for fun or serious eithers..
