yep you read that right! i finally got 3G cochlear implant model today at 1 pm. been exploring sounds ever since LOL. BUT now man... i got real bad headache which is what i expected... after all i havent used any CI for last 3 or 4 yrs. at first it was like sounds were electric... shocks ran through my brain. now its better but my head is throbbing.

i m really happy that i finally got it after 2 years of trying and fail and trying and fail. :)

i learned that i still like techno music along with dance and trance. heavy metal gives me goosebumps for some reason. i still cant stand plastic bags. i noticed i cant hear my own voice very well yet. i assume ill be able to hear that in march 30 when im gonna get new maps.

this model is frickin awesome. it has 2 different programs. one to take all sounds at same time. other one is to turn background noises off.

the funny thing is though... i kept thinking "oh no! i dropped my processor" *looks around for it* ah wait a min.. i do not have old processor.. i dont wear it on belt no more! LOL this is gonna take a while to get used to it :-P

Girl, I'm so happy for you that you finally have your CI after 3-4 years of being without it! *big hug*

Yeah, I can't stand plastic bags either.

We gotta VP tonight!!!

Good news! Hope you soon get used to all the new sounds again.

I'm not familiar with your story. How come you were without your CI for 3-4 years?

looonnnggg story. lol. i was with a guy who was also my boss, my landlord and my roommate. he was very controlling and i managed to escape. he took my CI and promised me he would give it back to me IF i would return to him. ofc i called cops instead and cops found nothing. after several months of struggling i gave up and decided to go for new ci and then 2 yrs of trying to find the cochlear implant specialist, then more time waiting for approval from bvr, insurance etc etc. today finally i got it after 3 to 4 yrs of struggles. damn it truly feels good to be able to dance to music today :-P

:eek3:  This story makes me think I should put my backup in a safebox at bank. I'm glad you finally got your new implant. I'm also glad you're not with this guy anymore.

:jaw: My goodness! You are well shot of him. Glad you have it back now even though it took so many years.

Maybe consider taking out a separate insurance policy on your speech processor? I've got mine insured for theft, damage and loss. It costs me $240 per year - not super cheap but worth it as far as I'm concerned.

i would have but i cant afford it unless i get a job.

Yeah I can see your dilemma. I'm not sure about the US but in Australia we can pay insurance in monthly installments which might make it easier for those on a tight budget.

now maybe getting jobs will be a bit easier for me now that ppl will know i can hear at least some.
