I recently sold an old Lawn Boy lawnmower. It used 32:1 oil/gas mix. I was showing the lawn mower to someone. We saw that it was out of gas. I had no oil/gas mix on me. We ended up putting some gas in it. I figured that since the mower had some residues from oil/gas mix that it would be ok. The mower started and ran just fine for the customer. I hope that mower doesn't break down on customer from too much pure gas being put in it.

I wonder if I should tell the customer that it was just gas that was poured in it? The customer is pretty handy so I'm sure he figured that it was just gas that went in the mower.

it will be ok for a few minutes, 2 cycles use oil in the gas to lubricate the piston rings. if ran too long without then the rings will wear and destroy the piston and cylinder walls... get oil in there asap...ASAP !!!!!
2 cycle oil, not motor oil....but make sure the motor oil in the crank case is full otherwise risk throwing a rod as well.

now I know never to buy a darn thing from you. You really should have told the buyer. 5 mins is all it takes to burn out the rings.

Too bad the life of that motor has been shorten already. Why must oil in gas? Observe the animation and you will understand why it is important to mix gas with oil.

It is like running a 4 cycle engine with NO oil in it but just gas, same principle.

I agree with the other posts ... damage has already been done to the engine its possible it would run fine with just plain gas a few minutes and then won't start anymore ... my brother tried to be smart once and used my weedeater with just gas and no oil it locked up. Call the buyer hopefully it will still run but its shortened the engine life running it like that.
