Hi there! My name is Alicia. I'm 16 years old and from Massachusetts. I've always loved sign language, ever since I got the Sesame Street book about it. As a (really terrible) dancer, I've always loved how much ASL was a form of dance and expression as well as an entire language!
I've always remembered the alphabet since I learned it in full in 4th grade...except for D,F, and S. I always mess them up. At camp last year, and I don't quite remember how, my councilor Chris and I started talking about sign language. Turns out he had taken classes in it - with a catch. He was from England, so he taught me the BSL alphabet and we had daily BSL lessons and I taught him the few things I knew in ASL (the alphabet, some swears, happy, etc.)
I was perusing YouTube one day and saw this user, AllyBallyASL doing songs in ASL, and to me, that was just the coolest thing ever! I started looking up signs for everything and trying to do it myself...but it's hard considering I don't know ASL save a few words and the alphabet.
I've been able to pick up small things by searching the internet and ASL dictionaries, but I'm really looking for someone to Skype with, maybe on a regular basis, with video so we can practice signing to each other.
I have no preferences about who contacts me (unless you're on Chris Hansen's bad side...), as long as you're willing to be patient while I fumble my way through the hand motions.
If you're interested, shoot me an email at [Mod's Edit: Email address is removed]
If this is posted in the wrong place or doesn't belong/I'm stupid, just delete it and I'll go back into my hidey hole...
x Alicia
