So, now I'm officially a cyborg as of today. I posted stuff on my blog and pictures if you're interested.

What a loud world it is. I hear paper ripping, I hear my boyfriend cutting and cooking in the kitchen. I hear every little thing I do. I asked my boyfriend if the world is really that loud (he's hearing). He says, "Yep. Us hearing people learn to block it out. Looks like I cannot fart in silence anymore." LOL!

Activation went well. I expected everything to sound really weird, and yep it does. Not too bad. low frequency sounds, sounds normal, but very very quiet. High frequency sounds pretty loud to me, I think it's because I was unable to hear that. All is good!

I'm waiting for SkullChick's activation!!!! Woooot!

I very happy that things went well for you. :)

Lady,

Congratulations on a successful activation! :)

Your experience sounds (no pun intended) very similar to mine in that one of the first things I noticed following my activation was how LOUD the world really is. One of the first sounds I heard was the sound of an object being slid across the table by my audiologist. That was pretty exciting considering the fact that it had been many years since I was able to hear that sound with HAs.

By the way, your activation date is the same date I had my surgery back in 2006. :)

Continue to enjoy all of the new sounds around you. In the meantime, I look forward to reading more about your CI journey! :)

Congratulations on your activation, LadyS! I hope that it continues toget better and better for you!

Resistance is Futile...

By the way, congratulations. :)

LOL! I don't know why, but I love being some type of Bionic, Cyborg, Borg...whatever you name it. I ought to name my processor a Destination name. Hmm...:)

Thanks everyone! I look forward for any new sounds or sounds that makes me cringe. I don't care, it's all music to my ears!

Congrats on your activation! I remember how loud my Mac sounded and how loud my parent's PC sounded when I first got activated. Now I barely notice the noise but motorcycles drive me crazy every time I hear one go past my apt.

I'm also glad my new neighbors got kicked out as they'd shout so loud at each other that I could hear them yelling in my apt. About time too. Gotta take the bad with the good and I don't regret getting implanted.

Congratulations!! So glad to hear it is going swimmingly for you!

I am so glad everything went well. I will stop by your blog and check out the details. Enjoy the sounds!

This may be better.

Assimilation is related to Star Trek Series:

Here's the link.

See LuciaDisturbed's signature...hence why she has a Borg smiley and CI-Borg.

Basically the whole thing means that I got turned on. (eww, that sounds dirty when I say that)

resistance is futile. when they get better at making ci's everyone is gonna want one. even those without hearing loss. imagine having more sensitive hearings than dogs.

Actually - Cats can hear better than dogs at higher frequency range. They're just too independence to allow us take advantage of it. Can you imagine training a cat to hear?

LOL, I didn't know that was included in CI!
