Okay. I am always forgetting my passwords, and despite the fact that I write them down, I always end up misplacing the information within my room, so I've had to reset my e-mail accounts several times, but that's not why I'm starting this.

You see, several e-mails send a 7-digit number or more for security purposes, and I was just wondering how many of you can memorize all 7 numbers and enter them correctly on the first try? I've noticed I've gotten pretty good at that, and that inspired me to be curious. Heck, if I'm doing banking business on a new device, they'll send a digital code, and I can memorize those, too, pretty well. No need to copy and paste.

If you are a member of multiple forums, they often have link where you can click on forgot password? Link. They would then E-mail you the password. I'm not perfect. I do forget my own password sometimes.

Didn't you already make a thread in the past about forgotten passwords?

We all forget. That's why there's "forget password/ID?" links.

It's not a good idea to give anyone or any entity your password(s). Would you give someone you don't know your house keys to hold and, "trust" them not to give them to anyone else?

Just like keeping real keys, you should treat them the same way.

Mark give me your passwords, ill protect them.......

Nothing complicated here. Why not use passwords that are all numbers, since you can remember them?

That's brilliant. Giving your passwords to an app in which they obtain your information. No thanks.

The app is very secure and stores all of your passwords effectively. You just need to know one password and that would be to gain access to the app.

Such a vague statement. How would you protect them? How would you protect yourself from them? :giggle:

Yeah, he should have a password of 123456 which happens to be one of the most popular passwords that causes accounts to be hacked! :giggle:

By the way, it is bad practice to have a password that only has numbers because it can be cracked easily with brute force.

He says he can remember strings of 7 numbers. He could add his name to the end, or punctuation. He wouldn't need to do sequential number strings with his "Rainman" skills.

Yeah he could add special characters such as a period or an exclamation point.

I'd be leery to use this app even if it says it's very secure and efficient. No apps are 100% secure-proof. It gives a false hope to lure people into thinking that their passwords are protected.

Of course, no app is completely hacker-proof, but most, if not all, apps that have to do with security have been tested extensively. What gives a false hope to lure people in thinking that their passwords are protected would be what seems to be a credible description of the app and the people are not paying attention to reviews. One thing I like to look at for any app/plugin/software is the changelog page which lists all the updates done to the virtual product. If I see there is no changelog I would be leery. If I see the changelog shows the last update was a year ago or more, I would be leery as well.

The best method to deal with passwords is to construct at least 3 or 4 simple, yet complex passwords that one can remember.
