I am curious, when deaf people get together, do they...

After a main event, what do Deaf people do?

THIS IS A MULTIPLE CHOICE POLL, CHOOSE AS MANY AS YOU WANT, and if you feel compelled to, post something to explain about it.

I was wondering about this tonight because I went skiing with a hearing group and then when we arrived at my friend's house, everyone went home?! Then I was assumed to go home as well. I felt very strange and a little hurt from it but was wondering about Deaf Culture, if you guys went out to do stuff, do you usually go back to a friend's house and chat more or do something else like hang out in a restaurant? I think it is the trademark of Deaf Culture where Deafies would go to do main activities, then split into groups to do secondary activities afterwards. How would you feel if your hearing friend assumed that you would go home immediately after the main activity?

usaully go deaf events then go resturant and chat til time to go home heh.. but it was fun tho ;)

We stayed at resturant until small hours chatting, we keep saying bye bye but continue to chatting in the car park!!

In England, we went to the pubs/wine bar for chatting, and if they offer me a lift home, I would invited them around for a coffee afterwards!

I can tell if they don't want me to overstay at their house is if they yawning or tell me how tired they are, I would say Bye!

I tend to chat and chat with people after event was over. I love to chat and chat with specific people.

Winks.

What do the deafies do??

My experience is that deafies love to stay up until all hours chatting or playing cards! 'Usually we would go to a restaurant -- one that stays open all night and does not chase everyone out. Deafies are VERY social! Of course, if they have to get up early for work -- or whatever, that is a different story.

In my case because I'm the mother now I'd go right home. Yep, it's a different world for me. ;) Long before I became a mother, I usually hang out with friends to drink (not always) and chat. If it's on a weekend, then we'd do some more activities.

Deafies are seem different than hearies because they chat and chat til one person leave then everyone leave by follow -- hearies has chat then prepare for their time -- look like deafies not care the time --

Actually, it depends on the situation. A lot of deafies here in Rochester tend to carpool. When they are in a group having a converstation and one has to leave, a few others will leave with them. Also, most deafies who all leave... usually end up going elsewhere together. Sometimes, deafies talk for hours without knowing that they were there for so long. Heh! Once, I went to see a movie with my friend. After the movie, my friend and I ran into other friends. We started talking. We also saw some other friends come by to see the next movie. Later, those friends came back out saying, "Hey, you're still here!?" Oops! We chatted too long! Heh!

Deafies ALWAYS seem to follow the "DST" (Deaf Standard Time)

im also one of those who tends to go by DST -- i would often say im leaving but in the end STILL there go figure LOL -- when im with group of friends we often just go from 1 event to the next event sometimes just staying for HOURS and go to restaurant and chat chat sometimes til AFTER closing time  hahaha

yea hearies tend to just "hurry up" (for lack of a better wording) and when they say "bye" they mean it! not like Deafies who tend to say "bye" but end up staying around chatting with other ppl

I get a bit annoyed by that DST thing! It's a big problem here at NTID and everyone seems to follow it. Ugh!

Whenever I went to a deaf function/event -- it was always staying hours after the function was finished...moved onto a restaurant for another few hours...then to someone's house! You know...DST (Deaf Standard Time) Almost never leave for home on time!

I met a Guy off the Internet which a friend from deafchat room. He came to my work and we end up chatting then I had to get back to work and he asked me if I could come to the Bar with him and his friends I said sure.. so we end up in the bar talking forever having some laughs and didn't realized the time cuz I had to be at work very early in the morning But I did not care too much cuz the Conversation got real good and the next morning I felt like crap cuz not enough sleep. But, Still I'm Glad I gotten to know him before I went back to Ohio.

I really don't have time for anything. Before I became a mom, I always stay out late and chat chat with the people til midnight, you know cafe and bar where all the people socialize at. Now I have this kid at home, and I have the responsible to be home with my kid and take care of him. He had to get in the tub at 7, and bed at 9, and I can chat online for a little bit. I am usually wore out after my kid go to bed.

Ha Ha you remind me of England... how good time we were... lol

Here in Germany...
When my friends were about leave but the chat never stop... Bye... then chat chat bye chat chat....
we chatted for a hour at hallway, then go outside then chat again for other hour... oh dear....

Lol. It's true that many deaf people are so fond of chatting, perhaps it makes up for the fact they can't communicate as well in the hearing world. It's not at all a bad thing but it does mean you *can't* leave sometimes heh.

I chose the first one but my friend was telling me that they went from house to house......... I am not the type to do that.....
