do you have HTPC ?

i might build it next few month for my future Entertainment Room. i m just curious if you have it or not.

if you dont know what HTPC is, it stands Home Theater Personal Computer: A computer designed to be used as a media center for digital home entertainment such as Movies, Music, Television, Games, Etc. it can be hooked up onto HDTV or TV so you can watch movies or HTPC can records your favorite program while you are out like TIVO. Also you cab surf online or IM anyone in Living room.

I wouldn't mind doing that myself in the future. When I get my own house, I'd build an entertainment center hooked up to a projector. A couple of students at RIT did that to their dorm room. They hooked up all of their games to this projector they bought. Now, their room looks nifty! ;)
 
HTPC is very costly! Very costly. I don't know how much cost will be?
 
I wanted a projector... but a good one costs $3000!!! That's in Australian dollars too. And not only that, but replacing the bulb costs like $500. :( But it'd be awesome some day.

:) well yea it is.... if u know how to build HTPC then u should be ok. u can spend about 800 to 1000 on the htpc.

you need to have the best video card and capture card.

a only problem is that the htpc case is very expensive. the prices of htpc cases vary from 70 to 400 dollars. i m into the 200 dollars worth case that comes with VFD(Vacuum Florescent Display). perhap it would be nice to have the case with built in LCD. that surely looks very sexy.

yea projector is very expensive. why dont u try ebay.com ? most of the projectors are under 1000 dollars.

humm, that htpc case with the lcd that was homebuilt. he said he might sell his own design case yet we do have case with lcd. see this

this case with touch screen mounting lcd wud be approx. 600 dollars because lcd costs itself 400 bucks.

however you can put the lcd onto the case by yourself if you know. feel free to ask me about the details on these cases. i have researched on the htpc since last fall. i am into that.

Whoa... :eek:

Forget about it. Heh! I'd rather do it the old fashioned way... with wires. ;) I'm used to doing that anyway. I can get a simple device that is connected to everything and I can simply switch with the click of a remote. :thumb:
 
If you want to find different thing. I think it called TIVO, there have use Cable, you can ask cable COX question. He happy to answer to you. And also it called HDTV it can be use Cox. He will happy to help you if you can ask question about monty payment cable, Digital, HDTV whatever you want to. Cable is cheaper, Digital is about 39.95 I think. HDTV a little bit over. I am not sure about it. You can ask what the thing is best. But, HPTV is too much cost, just wait till later long year later will be go down.
 
yea we have a tivo at home and we love it, but we pay the service fee monthly for tivo. unfortunately tivo will run its own banners ads when u do fast fowarding. check this. tivo freaks will not be happy with that. watch out the tivo's surprise. that will SUCK !

if you have your own htpc, you can get FREE service to record the program while you ll be away.
