It's good to stumble across a site for the deaf and hard of hearing. Feels like coming home.

I was born with nerve deafness, have about 30% of my hearing left. Wear ears.

Sometimes being HOH is a blessing, sometimes a curse. One of my biggest peeves is when people who CAN hear assume that you're not "focusing" or "paying attention" when you ask them to repeat themselves. Then they assume that since you can't hear, you're dumb as well.

I've used that misunderstanding to my advantage a few times. :naughty:

I look forward to getting to know all of you here at alldeaf.

Oh, and HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY TO ALL YOU MOMS OUT THERE!

Later.

 :welcome: Hello Jokerdubya!!! Welcome to AD, and hope you enjoy your stay here. Look forward to all of your postings.

Have patience with the hearies, some can be pretty slow. For example, I am hearing, CODA, my husband is deaf. I have hearing people asking me how he can drive if he can't hear anything? Doh I tell them, they can see, they just can't hear. They use their side and rearview mirrors. This is what I mean, so just have patience with them. They'll come around sometime this century.

On the other hand, there are hearing people who go out of their way to learn to sign so they can talk to the deaf. Those people I give a high 5!!

Have a good day, and take care. Again welcome!!!!
