Only the public elementary school will be rebuilt. the deaf school was closed in 2000 but the main deaf school building continued to be used as a library and resource center for the deaf.
as for protests, there hasn't been any. The news is now being spread throughout the local deaf community, as the plans were just recently confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
