For the most part, children of today are being raised so differently than children of yesteryear. How were you raised? Below is how I was raised.

I was raised in a two parent home with siblings. I slept in a crib and spent my first few months in a baby bassinette. My mom bottle fed all of us kids, never breastfed, and she used cloth diapers religiously. Rubber pants and pins. We were spanked but for the most part, home life was quite relaxed, and not too overly strict. We were all toilet trained by around 2 years of age. Play-time meant having the run of the neighbourhood from morning till night, and public schooling was standard in those days. We celebrated all holidays throughout the year. Household chores were never imposed upon us, but we were encouraged to help out when and where we could. With little money in the home, we were all told at an early age that if we wanted anything extra, we would have to work for it.

I raised our kids pretty much the same as I was raised, but in addition to the above, our children were both bottle and breastfed.

I was raised in a home with parents who became more and more religious as the years went by. Now, I avoid my parents. Eek!

I was raised by my mom....
My dad was like a visitor,
He came by maybe every 5 years.
He called my older sister a lot.
I had a normal family life.
I played Atari and pac man.
And my older and I took turn
washing dishes and we both
Cut grass, trim bushes, house cleaning.
We always have dogs and pets.
My mom always did my long thick hair...
And I had nice birthday parties.
I played with a little white girl, who
lived next door.
Many times I played with boys...
And few times bathed with male
cousins and me staring at their tiny weiners.
Things were so simple at home...
But at school, most hearing students
treated me fine, but my DEAF classmates
were so strange and few of them
were not nice to me.
