This is an excellent video to better illustrate what does it mean "the brain is developing", or "the connection (a pathway) is made in the brain" which mean
how from certain stimuli the brain cells called neurons - are sending (firing) electrical signals.
These signals cause the brain circuit - appearing in the video as extremely thin white lines - to connect with each other.
That's just the beginning.

The more stimuli - the more connections -pathways- are being made. No stimuli - no connections.
But that is not all - for the connection to remain, also remain stable and strong the same stimuli must be repeated.

Connection that are used most and are repeated become strongest and most permanent while the least used fade away. It's called pruning.

With repeated use, newly built circuits (neuronal pathways, brain network) become efficient and help create other circuits.

The general circuitry of the brain is called "Brain Architecture" and has specific centers called:
- Behavioral Control
- Motor Skills
- Visual
- Language
- Emotion

The best way to develop these centers is to stimulate them. This is know as "Serve and Return". You stimulate the brain, it returns to you with new pathways.
It's simply by way of somehow engaging these centers.

All the brain centers co-exist other one way or other.

for example, it is hard to learn to hear and speak without also seeing. It is hard to learn to see without oral explanation. Humans respond emotionally to visual or oral stimuli. even smells.
etc etc

The language center is stimulated by mainly sound.

More amazing vids with visible brain pathways (connection) forming:

This below video would illustrate perfectly why would some connection remain inactive or forgotten whereas other would close the gap for well:

I hope you guys will find this material interesting and it will help you understand about brain development a bit better.
