That's the NHS for you. I got ill and needed surgery, which made me severely deaf at age nine. Didn't get HA for another 18 months, and I was a child in education!

I suppose it was 30 years ago, but even so.

stupid NHS! LOL

and if you go to the hospital for batteries for your ci or Ha they give you 2 packs of batteries so you get 12 batteries in total which dont last long. SO i am lucky my implant centre gives me lots of batteries!!

I went to the hearing centre to get my right HA adjusted again and to get some new batteries, they only gave me two packets. On the way home I passed another hospital so I got some from there as well. Told them I'd mislaid the used ones so I couldn't return them. When I asked them for some thick tubing they said sorry we've only got the standard sort, good thing I had some spare at home.

I am not currently seen at the hospital for my hearing tests for my HA, I go to a Hearing Assessment centre but after may I have to start going to the hospital..... the hearing centre i currently go to gives me a 5 boxes of batteries
When i need batteries from the hospital I am not going to return the batteries.

What do you do with the dead batteries?

I always return the dead batteries, because that's what they said to do when I got my first HA as a child. I don't know if it's really necessary, but I've always done it.

My mum used to return them when I was younger when I was seen at the hospital, but we were told about 5 years ago to bin them so thats what we'v been doing ever since as they are completely dead batteries

Next time I go I'll ask them if they really want them back, up to now they've just taken them and said nothing. They probably bin them anyway.

Yes i think that is what they do anyway but worth asking!

Do you live down south?

Here in Greece we recycle them..I don't bin any battery , I just give them in recycling place..
