There's the text messaging apps on phones, such as Text Me, Text Now, and Text Plus, but my real question is, did you also know that there are a couple on the computers, too? I'm just being curious.

I didn't know that until you mentioned it. All I had to do was Google it and found few of them free - texting on the PC. One I found is called Pinger. Interesting.

I have unlimited data plan and I don't really text that much so I'm not really interested in it. It's great for those who do not have unlimited texting.

What I really want is a way to make TDD calls on the PC. Now that would be useful to me because some businesses have TDD numbers and I have no way of calling them as I have no landline. I used to have Nextalk but that got killed due to FCC problems.

Hmm. Well, I'm not sure how to resolve that, but may I suggest that you take a look on your phone? The reason why I say that is because some phones have a TTY option, like mine does. You may be able to use that?

Yes I saw that option on my phone. Thing is, I type so slow on that phone keyboard. But you're right, I'll give it a try and see if that works. Thanks for reminding me.

unlimited .. and that option had been around for quite a while.

I get around 2k texts a month sometimes 3k... I think I'll stick to the unlimited texting, it's a peace of mind this way.. :)

Yes, with Verizon, you can't drop unlimited text messaging plan if you opt in for $54.99 per month to replace the voice plan.

For me - unlimited.

I rarely use text because I mostly use iMessage.

I have voice, 700 minutes, I think that's the lowest option. But that because my kids are on my plan ;) they're not deaf :D

I have used my voice minutes for purple relay a few times, but it is absolute total crap. I hate it, it's like last resort. I hate asking people to make calls for me, but I'd rather do that than use the relay. It's that horrible.

Google Hangout had similar thing but I just use text as I don't want it all mixed up into one.

My cell has unlimited everything ... voice, text including pic texts and data

Voice and texting are unlimited on my plan, though I pay quite a bit for data because I'm always somewhere and can't rely on a single wi-fi source.

Normally, if the data plan is unlimited, then you have unlimited data that you can receive and send via text, but this is different for data sent and received via the Internet on your phone. There is a cap on the amount of data sent and received via the Internet measured in GB if one is relying on the cellular's network instead of a wi-fi source.

What a lame gif you just put on display. It seems like you speak just like that boy. Just kidding.

Anyhow, the point I was making was that texting is unlimited, but data received and sent via the Internet browser on your phone or even through the app store has a cap if a Wi-Fi source is not used. The cap is measured in GB as this cap will vary from plan to plan. That's why it is better to not update apps or use the browser until you are able to use a wi-fi source in order to not create the possibility of going over the cap. YouTube for instance uses up a lot of data and can easily cause one to go over the cap.

Some of us like to get in eachother's hair, ya know? :P What you described I have already known and considered. That's one reason why I use quite a bit of data. Like I said, I'm always going somewhere so I don't bother with wi-fi sources.

How is Verizon's cellphone plan lately? I cancelled my cellphone with them some years ago when they first started adding data packges to cellphone plans and made my plan jump from $65 a month to $150 a month. At that time, I had Unlimited talk and 800 text per month.

Have they come down in prices?

Is a data package 'still' a requirement for a cellphone?

I personally am only looking for unlimited talk/text. I can hear my mother on the phone clearly, because I trained myself to understand her. I use text with everyone else I know, pretty much.

But if I have to go with a trifecta, I rather have unlimited talk/text, and a 'small' usage of data. For a reasonable price.

I got my computer at home, I don't need to access facebook and all that crap on my cellphone.
