My friend has just got the Oticon Chili (had for 3 months) but she will only wear one aid as she says she can't be bothered to keep changing the batteries.

When I asked her how long her battery last, she said 5 weeks (wearing all day every day). Is that normal for a size 13 battery?
Seems v good as I only get a week and a half with a 675 battery.

Trying very hard to get her to wear 2 aids as her hearing is in the 80db mark so she would benefit a lot from 2 chilis.

5 weeks seems rather long, i would expect around 1-3 weeks and if she cant be bothered changing the batterys every 5 weeks im suprised she can be bothered putting them on in the morning.

Very true actually about bothering to put them in. I shouldn't really be moaning about it but I was like, I really really hate it when I have to wear one aid for any reason and I hate not wearing any aids at all.

She was like it doesn't bother me. I don't think I will be able to change her mine but I think she is being a bit stupid. Could understand it if she doesn't get anything from wearing aids but she doesn't need to LIPREAD even with one aid in.

maybe her hearing aids aren't set to be using up a lot of power and that could explain why her batteries are lasting her a good while. I don't know. And if she only wants to wear 1 HA, so be it, it's her choice. If she feels she can get by with just 1 HA, good for her I guess.

You get a week and a half with 675 batteries? I get almost a month and that's with everyday use. What brand are you using?

:eek3:

wow a month? Mine lasts a week. I use either Energizer or Duracell.

Mine are set right to the limit so they punch out a lot of power. That's the reason for short battery life. Wish I got a month!

I use Rayovac or the generic Walgreens 675 batteries, and they last me about 2 weeks in my Naida. Well, lately, longer, since I've been turning off my hearing aid as much as I can during the day so I can get all the practice I need with my CI. But typically about 2 weeks.

I'm going to try not to get into a whole thing on psychology here, but this sounds like a justification of a gut feeling she cannot explain. Who could be bothered to get hearing aids and put them on in the morning but then couldn't be bothered to spend 10 seconds every 5 weeks dealing with batteries? It's not so much a case that we know we are not being truthful, but the immediate gut feeling goes "I don't like this, stop it!" and the head says "I need an explanation for why that is the case, please provide details" so the brain makes somethign up as to why it reacts negatively, and without ever being consciously aware that it's made up, out comes the supposed reasoning. Since the battery issue seems incredibly unlikely to be the true reason behind her rejection of a second hearing aid, it's probably a red herring to wonder about it.

I generally get 3 weeks with my Naida's/675's. I've found the Walgreen's batteries last longer than the PowerOne's that my audi gave me.

I get 10 days max with mine Naida 675. I get RAYOVAC from NHS although I bought Power One in the past myself and they last a lot longer. Would love to get 5 weeks out of a 13 battery.
