I know some people get wax build up in their ears and that can made it hard to hear.  Have had your ears checked for  wax , my neighbor thought he was losing his  hearing and it was  wax in his ears.  You can get  a  see hearing test to see how  earing lost you have .  If you're trouble hearing people you're hard of hearing.
